Organization and the Office Manual
The Office Manual is one of the most underrated (but important) business tools in a small office.. In this world of paperless office systems & computerized databases it is very easy to overlook (let's face it...ignore) the office manual. But an organized office manual can serve as a back-up when computers are down, a quick reference that can be carried easily and a great teaching tool for training new staff members. As an Administrator I have created manuals for most of the companies that I've worked for. For a small business, the easiest way to do this is with a three ring binder and clear page covers. Fill the pages with all pertinent information, office procedures, telephone numbers and blank forms. Sometimes running the office just means getting back to the basics.
